The weather forecast is calling for varying amounts of precipitation this weekend. Depending on which model you look at, we could get as much as 9 inches of snow! At the very least it might be a wintry mix of rain, sleet, and snow. BE SAFE OUT THERE ON THE ICY OR SNOWY roads! The BETTER practice is just to stay home. If you absolutely have to get out, here are a few tips to help you avoid an accident on the road or at home.

• Check Your Vehicle: Tires, antifreeze, wipers & defrosters in top shape ✅

• Winter Emergency Kit: Blanket, flashlight 🔦, water, snacks 🍫, jumper cables, ice scraper, shovel, and sand or kitty litter for traction 🐾

• Drive Slowly & Carefully: Increase stopping distance & avoid sudden moves 🚦

• Use Headlights: Stay visible, even during the day 💡

• Stay Informed: Monitor weather & road updates 📻

• Avoid Travel if Possible: Stay safe and off the roads when conditions are severe 🚫

🏠 At Home:

• Insulate Pipes: Prevent freezing & bursting with insulation or heat tape 🧤

• Seal Windows & Doors: Keep cold air out and save energy 🏡

• Clear Gutters & Roofs: Prevent ice dams & water damage ❄️🧹

• Keep Heat On: Maintain steady indoor temperature 🔥

• Backup Heating: Use space heaters or generators safely ⚠️

• Prepare for Outages: Batteries, flashlights, non-perishable food stocked 🕯️🥫

• Trim Trees: Remove dead branches that could fall 🌳

• Check Detectors: Smoke & CO detectors working properly 🚨
